Fushan Café

Did you know coffee was first brought to China by a French missionary in the late 19th century? Since then, the production has skyrocketed, mostly in Yunnan province.

But if you go further south, Hainan island is also a hotspot for coffee production, particularly in Chengmai Fushan and in Wanning Xinglong.

If you visit this tropical paradise, you can’t miss trying the Fushan coffee. The fragrance and flavour it releases has won praise as far afield as Macao and Hong Kong, seen as a real treasure.

Once in Hainan you’ll easily spot one of the many Fushan Cafés, bearing the name of the original drink.

A coffee with the island’s balmy sea breeze on your face is a perfect combination. Head for the Holiday Beach area when you’ll stumble across a café on the coast. Sun, sea, sand, coconut trees and coffee. What more could you ask for?
