The Sweetened Taro, which many locals remember from early childhood days, remains a perfect desert option. If you're planning to visit the island during the winter, rest assured this is the best time of the year to enjoy this delicacy.

As a nice option to warm you up on cold days, Sweet Taro is made of, among other things, sugar noodles and bean curd alongside sesame paste and sago, creating a unique syrup with a fragrance of its own, you can easily sniff out in the street.

Each bowl of Sweetened Taro is a slice of heaven for foodies, which you’ll be able to find in one of Old Haikou's alleys. You'll just have to follow the scent until you reach one of the several places tempting you with it. Take time to enjoy this wonderful dish.
