Beach Soccer in Haikou

Introduction & Highlights

Haikou is a tropical haven, but also a charming paradise for sports lovers who like to enjoy some relaxing time and get fit.

The local climate and lavish nature that surround the island of Hainan have made it a trendy spot to hold plenty of sports events. So much so that over the last couple of years, Haikou has been attracting increasing worldwide attention, organising a series of beach soccer related tournaments.

In 2019, the Belt and Road International Beach Soccer tournament brought teams from the Czech Republic, England and Portugal to join the host China in a competition. The event attracted crowds of fans, seduced by the growing popularity of beach soccer in Asia.

This kind of soccer has its roots in Rio de Janeiro’s beaches, but its magic has travelled beyond Brazil’s borders, literally to the other side of the world, to Haikou.

Thanks to its reputation, the white sands and pristine waters, Hainan’s capital city now rivals other top destinations, both as a tourism destination and as a beach soccer hotspot. A location blessed with natural conditions, perfect for the practice of this sport.

Whether you're a right or left-footed player, amateur or professional, and would like to experience a unique place to play, feel invited as of now to come to Haikou and indulge in beach soccer. If you don’t have a team, don’t worry. On the ground you will always be welcomed by the locals, who love to learn new tricks from new people.
